Choose kindness
My uncle was paralyzed in his 30s and confined to his bed for years until he died in his 50s. He fell off a chair while feeding his birds and just like that, his life changed. On a beautiful, normal day, he lost his independence and a chance at a fulfilling life. Before that happened, he was energetic and did martial arts. I remember visiting him in Vietnam years after the accident, and tears were rolling down his face as he was confined to his bed.
If you have your health now, it could be taken away in just a few moments. Life is fragile and that's why I choose kindness. We're all going to die and I've decided that I'm not going to use my limited time here to make other people miserable. Life is already filled with hardship and suffering. Why add to the hardship? I'm going to make the best of my time and help people make the best of theirs. Because why make others miserable? Why make yourself miserable?
