Delft to Rotterdam
November 24, 2020
I’m on a Sprinter onward to Rotterdam. Sprinters are older and slower than Intercities. They stop at more smaller cities along the way. The seats are fabric. A faded dirty blue with orange and dark blue geometry scattered throughout. I wonder how dirty these seats are. And how much of this dirt is transferred to our clothes as we sit here. The head rest part of the seats is like a vinyl. That’s cleaner at least, I think. Or it’s just an illusion.
There’s a person sitting in front of me. I’m not sure about in the back though, I didn’t notice when I sat down. No one is sitting next to anyone unless they know each other. Everyone is wearing masks as is required.
We’re passing fields with horses, canals, houses, swamps, people walking, cows, sheds, sheep, green houses, farm equipment, suburban neighborhoods, a church, more horses and more canals.
A lot of the landscape is still green or yellow. No mountains or hills, just flat land as far as you can see. It’s not perfect here, but it’s close, and I’m going to miss it. Though I’m ready for a new adventure.
