Toe-friendly shoes

I went to a podiatrist for toe pain and while he didn't fix my toe pain, he did let me know that I have bunions and that they would only get worse, and I'd need surgery one day. I couldn't accept that so I did some research that doctors would hate and dug deep into toe-friendly shoes. Most barefoot, toe-friendly shoes are ugly and expensive, but they're getting a lot better. Here's my list so far.

(I'm listing mostly brands because it's easier but if you're curious about the exact shoe that I've tried, just reach out. This is also US-centric; I know that Europe has a lot of barefoot brands but shipping and returns would be too difficult and costly.)

I currently don't have toe-friendly running shoes. I have Nike knit running shoes and while the toe area is narrow, the knit still allows my toes to splay a little. They've also held up for 10 years, which barefoot shoes seem to have not figured out yet.

Lem's primal. They were expensive and ripped in a year. I expect expensive shoes to last longer.

🧦 SOCKS

I don't like to fuss about socks so I just buy the Costco Kirkland brand black socks in bulk. For hiking, I have a few wool socks that I've bought in random places.

🥾 BOOTS

I have not found an affordable toe-friendly boot. I've settled with buying wide boots or boots that are half a size bigger. I'm not in boots all day anyways so I'm not too worried about them. I also like boots with heels, so I don't follow most of my criteria for boots.

👠 DRESSY

I'm rarely in dressy shoes so I'm not worried if they're not toe-friendly. I don't follow most of my criteria for dressy shoes.
